Happy Thanksgiving,
2006 has been an incredible year
so far for everyone at RERSI.
Thanks to your
continued support, we have grown exponentially since
this time last year. We have actually
outgrown our original facility,
and
are now fortunate to be able to rent a beautiful and
efficient second facility. Currently we are caring
for 12 adoptable horses, in addition to our
permanent resident sanctuary horses. We are also
thrilled to report that 2006 has been our best year
for adoptions yet; with more than
THIRTEEN
RERSI horses adopted into loving homes, and the
years still not over!
We are always thankful for the wonderful rescued
horses that touch our
lives, and this year has been no exception. Among
our current residents are three PMU foals that are
particularly special to us. Promise, Cody, and
Shamrock (Rocky) were pulled from the kill pens of a
PA horse auction, and saved at the last minute. They
each came with their own set of obstacles to
overcome. Promise (a yearling Arabian cross filly)
was practically a walking skeleton with a body score
of 1.5 overall, and a horrible case of strangles.
Rocky (a yearling quarter horse cross) also came to
us underweight with strangles, and terrified of
humans. Cody (a paint yearling) although a good
weight, came with shipping fever, covered in burrs,
and petrified of all people. Slowly, but surely,
with much love and care these three are on the road
to recovery. Rocky has recovered from strangles, is
gaining weight, and is even enjoying being groomed
and touched by humans. Cody is becoming more
trusting everyday, and will now take food from our
hands. Promise is slowly gaining weight, and is well
on her way to recovery.
Since gaining nonprofit status in
2004 we have saved more than
THIRTY
horses with your generous support. We are thankful
for all that you have
helped us accomplish in the past two years, and we
hope that you will continue to support our cause in
the future. Thank you for making all of this
possible!
PS: Promise, Rocky, and Cody are
in desperate need of sponsorship! They
each need a large amount of vet care, and their feed
bills have been through
the roof as we are trying to get them back to a
healthy weight. We would be EXTREMELY THANKFUL for
any size donation that you can afford!
Yours Truly,
