Nancy Taylor
has been involved with horses on and off throughout her
entire life.
Growing up she lived in Baltimore City, but she found solace
riding at
a community riding
facility near her house. After the community
stable closed she found
another stable that
offered structured English
lessons. She continued riding there for
several years.
When Nancy was 16 her passion grew in California. She
spent three
summers living with
her aunt and taking care of their horses. She learned
to ride western,
she competed often,
and she even took up barrel racing.
Unfortunately, riding got put on hold while Nancy completed her
college
degree and
started a family. Nancy obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree
in
Pharmacy. She has
worked at the same Pharmacy since 1980 and has
managed it since 1984.
She brings a
vast array of medical knowledge and
managerial know how to the rescue.
She had no choice but to begin riding again when Alyssa got her
first pony.
"I couldn't
just watch while she took lessons, I wanted to take lessons too.
It
made me remember how
much I missed horses being a part of my life."
Nancy recalls fondly.
Nancy got her first horse
when she was 39. Although she
wishes she'd have gotten one sooner, she
admits that it
was well worth the wait.
Now by starting the rescue, Nancy wants to give something back to
the
animals that have
given her so much. When asked why the rescue is important
to
her, Nancy explains, "Horses have enriched my life, now I want to do
something to help
them."
