YEAR END 2008 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters,

The holidays are nearly here, and 2008 is coming to a close. We hope that your enjoying the season and spending time with loved ones human and horses alike.

Thanks to your support we've had a wonderful year despite tough economic times. Thank you for allowing us to continue saving these foals and young horses. Without your support foals like Mona, Rowan, Mighty, and Apache would never have had a chance at life. Now they are thriving and nearly all of them have moved on to new homes of their own.

We know times are tight, but for those of you who can help, we'd like to ask you to please help sponsor our two newest rescues, Jade and baby Leah.

Last week we went to New Holland to help a friend move a horse and ended up pulling a mare and foal at the last minute. We hadn't planned or budgeted to take anything home, but these two were about to get shipped out with the kill load, and we couldn't bear the thought of this filly ending up in that type of situation. Even though they don't slaughter them this young, she would surely have been trampled to death on the trailer....

Leah the foal was only three weeks old when we rescued her, and Jade looks to be around 9 years old. Our best guess is that they are Morgan/Percheron x's. Momma is VERY protective of her filly. We are hoping that changes as she learns she can trust us. Leah is bar none the most friendly and personable foal we have ever met. We don't usually pull horses we haven't planned, but we just couldn't bear to leave these two behind.....Can you see why?

Any donations are truly appreciated! Funds are very tight right now partially due to the economy and because of rising feed costs. Thanks again for all of your support! We look forward to a great 2009, and have some very exciting new developments within the rescue that we will share with you shortly! ;-) Happy holidays!

Yours Truly,

Alyssa C. Taylor
