IN MEMORY OF...
We want to take a moment to remember some of the
horses who have touched
our lives and made us who we are
today. Although they are not with us anymore,
the lessons they have taught us will remain with us
forever.
Hopefully
this will be the least updated page on our site...

Dixie was surrendered into rescue with
her daughter Pixie. They were very
closely bonded, and were lucky enough to
be adopted out together. The pair found
a wonderful and loving home. Dixie lived
out her last days in paradise
being groomed and ridden by her own
little girl, and
chasing around her OTTB "boyfriend,"
Conner. Dixie
was a sweet and easy going mare who
everyone
adored. She was a lovely happy horse,
who unfortunately despite the best care
possible, lost her life to a bad
case of founder in spring 2007. Dixie
will be sorely
missed, but we feel fortunate knowing
that her last few months were filled
with love and joy. |

Candy was the horse that everyone
told us not to buy. She was a beautifulchestnut appendix quarter horse, and she was all
mare. Candy was old,
an estimated almost twenty when she came into our
lives, and almost thirty
when she left us (although she never looked a day
over 12). She suffered from significant stifle and hock problems that "limited,"
her to light riding and forced an early retirement.
Candy was the reason that we left the boarding
stable and found our own farm,
a sanctuary for her to live out the rest of her days
in peace. In a way,
RERSI began with her.
She was an incredible horse who taught us more than
we ever expected in our
short time together. Candy was always so full of
life, she loved to show, and would
do anything for her special person. She used to wrap
her neck around Alyssa
and nicker, giving her own special horse hugs.
We lost Candy to WNV in 2003, although she was
properly vaccinated,
the virus was just too strong. We will always
remember Candy, and are thankful for every second that we spent together. She was an
inspiration, and although to others
she may not have been worth much, she was priceless
to us and everyone who knew her.

Dakota was the horse that began it all. He was
Alyssa and Nancy's first pony,
a Quarter Horse/Welsh cross red roan gelding. Dakota
was handsome,
and always full of spirit. He loved to jump, and
more than anything loved to buck,
he really taught his riders a good seat and hands.
Dakota was a lesson pony for many years, and was
loved by adults and children alike.
When he was sadly outgrown by Alyssa he found a home
at a wonderful stable,
where he lived the rest of his days doing what he
loved, being ridden and jumped
by children who adored him. Dakota was shown
successfully everywhere from barrel races,
to A rated hunter shows, to the Kentucky horse
trials. He was ridden and shown until the end.
In 2003 Dakota sadly lost a battle with colic.
Dakota was one of the smartest horses
we have ever been lucky enough to know. He touched
many lives,
and we will always love and remember him.

Morgainne was a beautiful Quarter Horse
PMU
filly from Canada. She was full of fire
and spunk,
and we were thrilled when the wonderful
founders
of Celtic Rein Equine Rescue and
Sanctuary, adopted her as their own
personal horse. We were lucky to be close enough to
visit and
watch Morgainne grow and blossom into
the incredible horse that we knew that
she was destined to be.
Sadly, a tragic and
unforeseeable pasture accident
cut Morgainne's life short in August
2007. Despite quick action from
her owners, and the best veterinarian
care, there was nothing that could have
been done. Morgainne will be sadly
missed by everyone who knew her. We take
comfort in knowing that Morgainne had so
many wonderful people who loved her, and
that she had such a wonderful life with
them. Rest in peace sweet filly.. |
