This farm brings joy to my heart knowing that horses

Hello from Maine. I just happened on to your site.
Like so many of us horse people we all thank-you
from the bottom of our hearts for what you do. I own
three horses I bought that needed a good home. I
have never been happier with my choice's. I have
bought starved and uncared for horses and found them
good loving homes on my own.
God Bless,

I admire and so respect what you are doing for the
poor unfortunate horses that some choose to cast
aside. We are here to tend the animals, give them
love and nourishment, tend to their needs, in return
for all they give to us, some owners are so
soul-deficient as to think that they can cast aside
this perfect animal that has given to us so
selflessly. God bless you all in your continued
efforts to pick up the slack of the ones that
exploit and abuse these beautiful creatures who have
carried us throughout history. They would be running
wild and free if it were not for man, but where
would man be now if it were not for the horse? Thank
you for being there. I live in California very near
the wild horse sanctuary in Manton you should check
it out if you haven't already.
Good Luck and God Bless You,
Dona M., in California

Hey I just wanted to tell you how great I think
it is for you to give the horses hope.
Since you have started the
rescue I have seen so many horses come to you and to see
them when
they leave is amazing you transform them, give them something to
believe in
and I just wanted to say that some day I hope to be like
you.

RE: ROYAL EQUINE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY, INC.
To Whom It May Concern:
I have been fortunate to know the
staff of Royal Equine Rescue and Sanctuary (RERSI)
for approximately ten years. I first met Alyssa Taylor
(President) and Nancy Gilbert
Taylor (Vice- President) when they signed on as volunteers for
Therapeutic Riding at Normandy Farm. As an instructor and
board member for that organization, I was able
to observe their dedication and commitment to serving the community
first hand.
It was no surprise that these
motivated individuals identified the need for an equine
rescue facility in the area and accepted the challenge in 2004.
Since that time, I have
had occasions to work with their program first hand. I have
adopted horses for personal
and professional use and have participated in their foster program.
RERSI makes every
effort to match horses to people and offers thorough follow-up post
adoption to insure a smooth transition.
Alyssa Taylor’s enthusiasm has
grown this program from a grassroots start. I have been
consistently impressed with her professionalism and compassion.
Although it is clear that RERSI would like to help every equine in
need, sound business practice is clearly in place.
Nancy Gilbert Taylor’s love of
horses is evident through her work at RERSI. Additionally,
she was very encouraging when I first extended my counseling
practice to the barn to
work with at risk youth citing the healing power of horses.
The two programs have since forged a successful working alliance.
My level of trust with these two
remarkable citizens is so high that I direct any riding
student or friend in search of a horse to RERSI first.
Currently, my barn hosts two
adopted horses from RERSI. One of which is my own and I
couldn’t be more pleased. RERSI went to great lengths to
insure that I had a horse suited to my needs. Likewise,
the other rescue horse is the best friend of a young woman and has a
wonderful new life following a successful racing career and a
significant injury. Without RERSI’s intervention, the future
of both of these horses would have been bleak to say the least.
Several other RERSI horses have
passed through my life and have ended up with
permanent homes. One is working with the therapeutic riding
program and another was adopted by a deserving young lady.
It should also be noted, that although every effort
is made by this organization to make match horses to homes, at
times, it just doesn’t
work out. RERSI willingly takes these horses back and resolves
the matter in a fair an equitable way.
I am honored to have an on-going
working relationship with RERSI. Their commitment,
perseverance and devotion are commendable and highly regarded by
other equine professionals in the community. If I can answer
any specific questions, please feel free to contact me at
443-655-7164.
Sincerely yours,
Linda L. Smith, LCPC

RE: Royal Equine Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc.
To
Whom It May Concern:
We
are writing in support of Royal Equine Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc.
(“RERSI”), a local
non-profit horse rescue operated by Alyssa Taylor and Nancy Taylor
on their farm
outside of Bel Air, Maryland. My husband and I are
members of the state Horse
Council and ourselves have been involved in horse rescue for more
than a decade,
first as volunteers with Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and most
recently with
the Foal Acquisition Network, Inc. (“FANI”), an organization working
with Canadian
farmers to find quality buyers for Premarin foals (“PMUs”).
Nancy has taught her daughter a great deal about horses, and Alyssa
continues to
expand her knowledge, working with a wide variety of rescued horses,
from the elderly
to the injury, the racehorse to the PMU. They have developed
an excellent placement program, checking references and working with
prospective adopters, then following up
and guaranteeing the return of the horse if situation warrants it.
We have placed several
PMU foals with RERSI because we trust them to find the right
caretakers and to return
the foals if necessary for re-homing.
In
addition to keeping their horses close at hand on their own farm,
Nancy and Alyssa
rent a quarantine facility and actively recruit volunteers who have
farms for “overflow”
when necessary. They also are active fundraisers and have been
careful not to
overextend the mission, clearly understanding the expensive
undertaking involved in rehabilitating and placing rescued horses.
Please give them every consideration. You may contact us
directly should further
information be required.
Very truly yours.
